I don’t have any pictures to show for it nor a destination to write about, but this morning’s run is worth a mention. Tom and I needed to put in a long run, say 12-13 miles, so we were out the door by 6:45 this morning and were able to share a quiet, snowy morning, just the two of us and almost no one else. We let the Seine be our guide and enjoyed a new way to view sights like Les Invalides, Musee D’Orsay, and Notre Dame. Still dark, but the snow made the air bright and the falling snow was magical. Our return trip allowed us to watch the city wake up…laughing with two teenage boys pulling each other on a snowboard, heartbreak as we ran by two homeless people keeping warm over a grate in the sidewalk, smiling as we watched dogs joyfully bounding through the snow, greeting fellow runners as they popped up here and there, and feeling grateful for a warm apartment full of family and leftover quiche to replenish us.
A snowy day full of walks, church, pizza, and Notre Dame followed but I’ll leave that for another time.
